Parsons School of Design
Creating a communication platform for outgoing BFA and MFA photography students
Designlounge was approached by the Photography Department of the Parsons School of Design to create a logo identity, a website, as well as a series of marketing and promotional materials to showcase the work of the BFA and MFA photography graduates. We developed a flexible logo identity that could change colors and positions just as photographic approaches can shift based on subject matter or lighting conditions.

Promotional Mailers for BFA and MFA Photographers
Searching for a fresh vision for your advertising company? Want new photographers for your gallery? Need editorial photographs that tell stories or novel portraiture? These were the questions we asked and then incorporated in this first series of promotional mailers that were sent out to introduce the Parsons BFA and MFA photography graduates.
A Second Series of Promotional Mailers
Photography has the capacity to evoke, rather than tell, to suggest, rather than explain. It includes and excludes in a single moment. That moment defines a personal style. It is perspective, expression, and interpretation. It is about the edge. The edge of the frame. This series of promotional mailers showcased BFA and MFA student work that appealed to an audience looking for what is in the frame as well as what is outside the frame. Abbreviated headlines are meant to be completed by the reader to unlock the meaning.
- Michael, Designlounge’s creative director, taught design in the photography department for many years, which enabled us to create an authentic website platform because of his familiarity with the students’ strengths and talents.
- Michael currently teaches as adjunct Assistant Professor in the communications design program at Parsons, helping to educate the next wave of graphic design talent.
